Water_Works_Park_ConceptiPhone App + Website

In partnership with NewTown Macon and AT&T, we are developing an innovative iPhone application and website that will serve as an educational tool for teachers, parents, tourists, and the like who visit the Water Works park here in Macon, Georgia or at the website (TBD). While in the park, the app will use geo-location (kind of like the gps in your car) to automatically deliver information relevant to the various historical, sociological, scientific, and fun facts of the park, including info on the formation of the river bed to the Indian artifacts and monuments. Thanks to AT&T, iPhones will be available for checkout at the Water Works Park, making this technology accessible to everyone. Local educators are populating a database that will house the information on the park, and can be accessed by anyone from the new website. This is very exciting, but we must give you a word of caution: Be careful because you never know what you are standing next to!

Our Work

close

baptiststandard"The Brainstorm Lab has done a tremendous job in developing our new website and helping us continually improve it. We're thrilled with the work they've done.

Here are the best parts:

1. They're smart. Maybe that doesn't stand out to you, because lots of IT folks are smart. But it gets better. ...
2. They listen. Instead of fake-listening and then doing whatever they want with a site, they actually listen and give clients what they want. And better still ...
3. They speak plain English. This will be a shock to most people who have hired IT consulting, but these guys actually explain what they intend to do and how it will work in words non-techies can understand. What a relief. What a pleasure."

lightbulbconeIdea People

We're idea people ("brainstorm lab... get it?"), and that means ideas tend to pop up while we work on projects. Sometimes it's a new or better way to do something, sometimes it's a new feature that will help reach more people, and sometimes it's an idea for how you can make more money. So if you work with The Brainstorm Lab, don't be surprised if we start tossing additional ideas your way.

Social Networking

There's a lot of buzz about social networking (Facebook, Twitter, etc) these days, and it's true that a lot of companies and organizations are using the services to connect with their audience. We understand how social networking works, and can help you develop a sound strategy for building a presence there.

Media Forms

The best communications approaches use a wise mixture of tools to share a message. Because we can develop websites, produce video, design printed materials and packaging, write content and do photography, we can help you create a message that uses the best tools to get your message to the right people.

You Gotta Love RSS
manifesto_appWhat is RSS? RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication." It sounds complicated, but here's the shorthand: RSS brings you the most recent headlines from your favorite sites. If you like a headline, click and you can check out the full article.

If you are like me, you've got a batch of favorite sites and blogs you like to follow. However, if you take time every day to individually go to all these sites, you'll go crazy (or spend a lot of time).

An RSS reader allows you to keep up with a ton of sites in one place, really fast. If you want to give it a try, setup a free Google account (if you don't have one already) and fire up Google Reader. It will allow you to subscribe to your favorite sites' RSS feeds. You can subscribe to as many as you wish.

Why You Should Upgrade Your Web Browser
ie6-no-moreThe Web has become an important part of both work and home lives for more and more people. We go there to search for information, to use online applications and to keep up with our friends and family, among other things. As such we are spending an increasing amount of time using our web browsers as a primary application on our computers.

There are lots of browsers available these days, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Chrome, among others. All of the major browsers are free to download and use.

Do you know which browser you use, and do you know if it is up-to-date? It may seem like a silly question - if it is working, why mess with upgrading or changing browsers? (Important: If you are using Internet Explorer 6 - please upgrade - we'll explain why below).
